mattrene@hotmail.com
or Matt Acker at macker@kitsapbluejackets.com
How will I know if I am on the team?
ANSWER: Myself or BlueJackets Head Coach
Matt Acker will contact you
by the end of January.
How many home games will we play?
ANSWER: None, there are games scheduled
in the area early in the season. This is a travel team.
How will we travel and where will
we stay?
ANSWER: I will put together a travel itinerary
that you will follow. You will be given a meeting place
and will carpool from that point. I you live closer to the
playing site that the scheduled meeting place, communicate
that to me and arrangements will be made.
In some cases, you will be responsible
for your motel. Under these circumstances I will have information
on where we will be staying and the team rate for the room.
If you have someone in the area you would like to stay with,
you are more than welcome to stay with them. Some WCCBL
teams will pay for your hotel room when we travel to play
them.
We expect perfect behavior on the road.
What if I get offered to play for
another team?
ANSWER: Your money ($100 by Feb. 15. Total
of $400 by June 1) paid to the Tacoma Cardinals will stay
with the organization. In order to play for another collegiate
baseball team during the Cardinals season you will also
have to ask to be let out of your BlueJackets contract.
There is no guarantee that we will release you from your
contract.
If I don't get picked up by the BlueJackets
on or before July 18th, can I play for my old summer team
after the Cardinals season?
ANSWER: Yes
Why would I play a 30-game schedule
for the Cardinals if I could play 50-games in a men's summer
league or 60-plus games on a summer team?
ANSWER: More than likely you will not
face the top reliever from USC and play in front of crowds
of over 1,000 screaming fans in a men's summer league or
on a non-WCCBL summer team. If you are of age to play a
60-plus-game schedule, that may be beneficial for some players.
You will still have an opportunity to play for a High School
summer team after the Cardinals season is over. Even if
you don't move up to the BlueJackets, as a Cardinal you
will be playing against the WCCBL teams and have the opportunity
to impress the league coaches and the visiting major league
scouts in attendance.
IMPORTANT: Attendance
and behavior are important factors in order to play for
the Tacoma Cardinals. With the potential of moving up to
the Kitsap BlueJackets, we have to make sure that each player
understands that missing games in not an option. We are
willing to work with someone who has an emergaency and communcates
with us. When playing against a WCCBL team you will encounter
large crowds and alcohol being served at the games. We want
to make sure that our players are acting appropriately in
these types of environments. If a Cardinal player is kicked
out of a game or removed from a game by a Cardinal coach,
that player will no longer be eligible to be called up to
the BlueJackets.
