If I don't get picked up by the BlueJackets
on or before July 18th, can I play for my old summer team
after the Athletics season?
ANSWER: He can play anywhere he wants
after July 18th. Every Athletic's player contract is up
on July 18th. The contracts are designed that way because
July 18th is the last day for WCCBL teams to pick up a player.
July 18th also coincides with the Pacific International
League getting ready for the NBC World Series and for those
who are eligible for post season summer ball for High School.
The Athletics have a couple of games after July 18th, but
if other opportunities arise they are more than welcome
to follow them.
Why would I play a 30-game schedule
for the Athletics if I could play 50-games in a men's summer
league or 60-plus games on a summer team?
ANSWER: By playing for the Olympia Athletics
players will be competing against a higher level of competition
than most other summer league teams.
IMPORTANT: Attendance
and behavior are important factors in order to play for
the Olympia Athletics. With the potential of moving up to
the Kitsap BlueJackets, we have to make sure that each player
understands that missing games in not an option. We are
willing to work with someone who has an emergency and communicates
with us. When playing against a WCCBL team you will encounter
large crowds and alcohol being served at the games. We want
to make sure that our players are acting appropriately in
these types of environments. If an Athletics player is kicked
out of a game or removed from a game by an Athletics coach,
that player will no longer be eligible to be called up to
the BlueJackets.
